Betadine isn’t always the solution

Pain is inevitable; A common saying in literary novels, short stories, poetry, and even in daily conversations. Three words that are undeniably true and painfully obvious.

As long as you’re breathing, pain will always be there; so irreducible and even indestructible. Humans are built to withstand scrapes and bruises. Although I am no expert when it comes to human anatomy, I have had my fair share of fallings and failings that gave me more than just cuts but bleeding wounds. In those moments, I have seen my skin open, peel, and heal. Have you heard of Betadine? It’s a disinfectant meant for treating wounds to ensure that no harm will further come to the injured person. But what then if what’s hurting you cannot be treated with a first aid kit? Should we let ourselves bleed out? After all, pain is inevitable…right?

A heart that’s broken, a mind that is frenzied with agony, a human soul that is grieving, such unforeseeable unfortunate events cannot be stopped. Indeed, living is difficult. Every step means following a path filled with uncertainties, yet, why do we keep going? It is perhaps for the same reason: we are alive.

yet, why do we keep going? It is perhaps for the same reason: we are alive.

There is no one definitive way to disinfect pain nor to heal our inevitable suffering, but it’s how we move forward that we can continue to breathe.
